I can’t believe it! After 12 years working as a Park Ranger on Fire Island (15 years since I started volunteering) I finally hung up my flat hat for the last time today.
I’m so excited to say that I’ve recently accepted a position as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography at Alfred University! I’ll be moving up there next week, and teaching classes the following week. I am so excited to jump back into teaching, and am grateful for the opportunity to double down on my pursuit of art.
All of that means that after 12 years as a Park Ranger and Visual Information Specialist on Fire Island, I’ll be leaving my position with the National Park Service. Next time I’m here, it won’t be as a Park Ranger but as a visitor. Fire Island practically raised me, and though I’m sad to leave I’m also excited to see what comes next. I’m eternally grateful for this place, and for the folks who welcomed me here.
I’ll be moving up to Alfred, New York next Saturday. I plan to visit Long Island and New York City frequently, but may be a bit busy in the coming weeks. If you don’t hear from me quickly, I apologize. Do reach out if you’d like to get together before I leave <3
I hope you come visit me in western New York! And I’m so looking forward to what comes next ๐ฅฐ
๐ผ Goodbye July ๐ผ
It’s been both a really busy and not very busy month! Time is flying ๐ฌ anyway, here’s the ole’ update ๐
๐ I finally sent a few batches of film out for development and have been so thrilled to finally see photos from the last few months
๐ณ๏ธโง๏ธI’m cute and you know it

๐ธ Delaney and I got to stay on Fire Island for a few days with the family. We caught some toads and ghost crabs while we were out there!
๐ธ and oldie but a goodie. A photo from the Lavender Country show we caught a few months back finally returned, developed and fabulous as expected. Lavender Country is famously the first openly gay country band. Seeing them live last winter brought so much joy to my heart ๐๐
โ๏ธ Finally, I dropped a lil essay yesterday over at @fifthwheelpress. Read some thoughts on social media, photography, and the vector over there. (Link in bio). Tbh I’d love to know what you think ๐ฅฐ
๐ [cocks]
That’s all for now! More to come soon I’m sure ๐
It’s July! Yesterday was my one year anniversary on HRT ๐ฅฐ I think it’s going well but you can be the judge ๐
A couple of updates from May and June ๐๐
๐ฎ I spent the last two days in a barn up here in Ithaca reading tarot and joining an art cult with my friends at @imagetextithaca. I’ll be here until Sunday if you’re around and want to catch up!
๐ป It’s my summer of lesbian weddings! In May I saw my friend @kir_royale_10 get married ๐ฅน๐ญ it was so beautiful. I love her!
๐บ caught my mom up in the mountains ๐๐ we went hiking and partied hard.
๐ณ๏ธ๐ June was pride! I spent it working most days on Fire Island.
๐ธ @the.belle.curves dropped their newest album! My love @delaneyjhafener is a star ๐คฉ
๐ it’s beach season! Hiking with my buddy @jamesdenatale
© All “writes” reserved. I had the astounding pleasure of writing about the work of @penelopeumbrico, an artist far ahead of her time. I spent some time thinking about social media, photography, and NFTs. I’d be honored if you’d check it out in the latest addition of @float_magazine
๐บ๐ธ it’s a dark time in the States and I’ve been continuing to write about it and to think about how photography might interface with the politics of the moment. I recently spoke with my friend @keavyhandleybyrne about everything from Motorola Razr flip phones to fascism. You can read out conversation over at @strangefirecollective!
๐บ finally, I’ve been reading Society of the Spectacle so be prepared for it to become my new personality.
That’s all I’ve got for now! ๐
Happy May! I’m going down to the mountains to see mom so I may be out of contact for the next few days, but before I go, the usual updates:
๐ I can’t believe the semester at Purchase passed! It was so incredibly inspiring to work with these students. Their projects are truly brilliant. Wishing them the best of luck before graduation. ๐ฅฐ
๐ฆ looking for teaching gigs for next year if you know of any ๐
๐ท Posted a new new-bodie on Mother’s Day. This one features an image by the talented @kalven_duncan, and a poem by myself for the folks over at @fifthwheelpress.
๐ฆ Spent this morning/afternoon at the New York Public Library, talking about how much I love “Putting Myself in the Picture” by Jo Spence with the folks at 10x10 Photobooks. It was a real honor to have the floor ๐๐
๐ feeling a lil burnt out, and hoping to disconnect over the next week. I’ll be on the road to see friends and families, trying not to check social much. Fee free to message me if you need! But I can’t guarantee I’ll get back to you quickly.
๐ค gettin Borgy tonight in Brooklyn. Text if you wanna stop by ๐
๐โฌ raised a cat for one of my very best friends. She’s off to a good home ๐๐
April’s been a long one. Some notes from the last few weeks~
๐ hurt my own feelings making this month’s new new-bodie. Went for something a bit different by limiting the use of text in this one
โง 10 months on ๐ง in a few days
๐ students have been putting on some of the most incredible exhibitions I’ve seen. What an astounding honor. Purchase students kick ass

๐ป new-bodies all look much better on the computer, just sayin
โฐ two years since I made this photo after a hurried rush down to North Carolina following just about the worst phone call I ever answered
some spring scenes๐ท๐ธ๐ฑ
Working on a few things, including an April new-body. In the meantime you should pop over to @lemon_car_lot (link in bio) to read a piece I wrote, and sat on anxiously, over a year ago.
Anyway, it’s been a busy season so far. Still hoping to slow down a tad. Very tired but also very much enjoying the warmer weather.
Spring has sprung ๐ญ here’s my March update for y’all.
I made a more concerted effort this month to slow down and decompress. There were a few bumpy spots (I’m not very good at this)but overall this effort has been a success!
I’m glad to say I’ve been taking my camera out once again. Had to make a few critical repairs, and invest in a new bag, but now that that’s out of the way I’m feeling more inspired and excited to get out of the house! I’ve finally had the chance to catch a few friends I haven’t seen since before the pandemic (or in some cases, have never seen in person before!) I hope I get to see more of you in April~
March marks 8 months on hrt and things are kinda speeding up. Some noticeable changes, lots of subtle ones!
Teaching has been amazing! My students are stellar and wow ๐คฉ they really are an amazing group of artists.
I had the utmost pleasure of catching my friends Carla Liesching and Pablo Lerma over at MACK for a conversation about Carla’s latest book. I believe it’s up on Mack’s YouTube if you want to check it out.
There’s a new new-bodie up on New-Bodies.net (link in bio)
I apologize if I haven’t been super responsive lately! I’ve been pushing some serious burnout for awhile now, and tbh, I’m finding it necessary to continue my retreat from Instagram to focus on projects, and on my health. If you know me, text me! Hopefully we can catch up soon~
Life has been a little hectic lately, so here’s a lil monthly update ๐ it’s getting difficult to keep up, and I am very burnt out ๐ฅฐ
First, I’m really excited for an event I’ll be participating in tomorrow (2/16/2022) with the folks over at @photocenternw and @humbleartsfoundation. Myself and other artists will be discussing the new exhibition “Pained Vistas”, on view now. You can join us for free online at 6PM PST or 9PM EST. I hope to see you there! ๐๐
Next up, I had the wonderful pleasure of chatting with @youngjackyoung about my project ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ญ๐๐ฌ. It’s up now over at @lenscratch. It was a super helpful interview and I’d love for you to check it out!
As always, a new ๐๐๐ -๐๐๐๐๐ is up for the month over at new-bodies.net (link in bio). Check it out if you’d like!
Also! I just started teaching at my old undergrad! It’s amazing being back at Purchase and I’m grateful to have some brilliant students.
Last two images for funsies.
Anyway, that’s it for me so far! Happy February y’all!
Happy snow day ๐ฅฐโ๏ธ
My monthly descent into Instagram is again upon us. January has certainly been a month. February is set to be yet another. How many more months will there be? We may never know.
Some updates on life:
1. There’s a new “new-bodie” up on “new-bodies.net”. This one features some familiar lil toadstools. I think they look cute.
2. Fast approaching 7 months on my lil pills. Slow but steady I suppose.
3. new-bodies.net featuring a familiar text piece. One I’m really proud to have featured as the afterword in “Witness”, a project by @efrem_zelony_mindell.
4. I wish I could make it to @photocenternw to check out a show by @jonfeinstein and Roula Seikaly. I’m really so honored to have a few photos up alongside some true photo-hero’s of mine. More on that to come.
5. Hazey #2 is out by the lovey folks at @fifthwheelpress
6. This issue of Hazey features an incredible cadre of trans*, queer, and gnc artists. Some of my favorite folks in this one!
7. I got a tattoo! ๐ฒ
8. The Empress is my favorite tarot card, can you tell?
9. The printer is up and running! I had to figure out a few work arounds but it’s printing well and doing an amazing job overall!
10. Twitter tells me today is the anniversary of the premiere of one of Star Treks most fucked up episodes! ๐ Happy “Threshold” day y’all!
Hey y’all. I’ve got a new post up on my web project new-bodies.net. This one is a series of short stories about coming out. Friends who have known me for awhile may recognize the photos. I’m trying to dig back into my archives a bit. Check it out, I’d love to know what you think!

It’s the end of 2021, and time for my lil monthly Instagram update. As I’ve mentioned I’m trying to be a bit less active on this platform. I’ve updated my new website new-bodies.net with a new piece, this time a little something about the experience of coming out.
A few other things have happened this last month, so here a quick update for y’all ๐ฅฐ
New-bodies.net (link in bio) for Decembers “coming out stories”. You can definitely view it on mobile but it I really prefer you check it out on a desktop if you can!
Officially 5 months taking my lil pills. So far so good.
Had the absolute surprise and pleasure of seeing Paralytic States shortlisted by @luciefoundation for their “photobook prize”. Anyone wanna officially publish it? ๐
Saw the release of my first chapbook by the good folks over at @babyblueensemble . A wonderful talk with my friend @mattbaczewski kicked it off!
We’ve officially kicked off the Word and Image Workshop over at @photocaptionist, with two sessions featuring incredible visits from the brilliant @mushroom_collector and @projectbphotos . 10 more to go!
Had a wonderfully productive collaboration with my new friend @kalven_duncan for @fifthwheelpress, which is launching a calendar for 2022! Check out collaboration for the month of may.
I’m grateful to have work in a show up by @mfa_photography_reviews over at @jkcgallery , and another show coming up in January. More to come on that soon! (Photo of book catalogue of the show)
I absolutely destroyed my back (literally could move for hours) moving this Epson 9900 I just snatched up from a guy in town. It needs some work, but I’m excited to get it up and running! This bad boy can fit so much fuckin pasta. More to come on that soon.
Happy Holidays!
